“I prefer to spend my free time with my family and doing sports.” “Montessori education has an unchanged effect. Why? It starts with the elementary basic needs of children: to understand the world, to be able to move independently in it and to be taken seriously in this endeavour. I find that extremely appreciative. With each new school year and new children, new impulses come into the school. Therefore, despite all the educational standards, no two school years are the same. This inspires children and teachers alike and creates a unique, dynamic learning atmosphere.”

“In my free time, I like to play basketball or meet up with friends and family.
Immediately after my Abitur, I started an FSJ at our Monti and was immediately enthusiastic about our school. The way children learn here still fascinates me today. I am happy every day to be part of this great staff and school community.”

“I always have a good book ready to relax and dream. “Children don’t always want to be held and guided by the hand, but also allowed to lead the way themselves. At other schools, I have seen children left behind and abandoned because their pace does not match the curriculum. With us, they flourish – each in a different colour and shape. My tip: You have to visit and experience us. The children show a self-reliance that impresses.”

“The Monti is addictive… me for over 20 years already. I have been a mother here, a parent advisor, a school parent advisor, a volunteer and full-time board member and now I am the full-time executive director at the Monti. All the positions I have held here so far help me keep my eyes on the school community and have taught me to change positions sometimes in favour of a different “view”. My daughter was a Monti 20 years ago and when I see how she has developed, how she still studied for her Abitur according to Monti rules, how she goes through the world with the greatest self-understanding, I know that the Montessori School Wiesbaden was the best decision of the last 20 years and I don’t regret a day. But when I’m not raving about the Monti, I’m sitting in my workshop listening to audio books and making colourful glass beads with a gas burner and oxygen. Only these colours and the depth through 15 layers of glass are even better than the Monti…”

I like to be with family and friends. But I can also enjoy being alone. Books, yoga and Pilates are another leisure supplement for me. I really enjoy working at the Montessori School Wiesbaden. There are great children here, their parents and a Monti team that supports each other. No two days are the same. It is nice to be a member of this community.

“I like dogs and music from the 60s and 70s.” “At our school, the children are given time to determine their own pace of learning as they grasp a material and make sense of it themselves. They get the guidance, they are responsible for the completion. As an educator, it’s fun to see the joy in the children’s eyes when they fully grasp the material and can then build on it.”

Sarah Burska

“In my free time, I like to be in nature with my family and friends. I love to travel and immerse myself in foreign cultures. I also like to move a lot. My favourite activities are yoga and cycling. What has always fascinated me about Montessori education is the unique learning environment and the position of the child as the master builder of himself. At our Montessori school, the children can learn at their own pace and have their own experiences, which allows the child’s personality to grow. I see our Montessori school as a large collective, where people meet as equals and live together in a respectful and friendly manner”.

“I like to explore new places in the world, with the help of books or in reality. I prefer to do this together with my daughter and/or friends. I also sing in the choir and enjoy playing board games.” “When I first came to the Montessori School, I knew very little about the education. Over the years I have come to know and love it. Every child is seen with his or her strengths and weaknesses and is encouraged or challenged according to them. Everyone is allowed to be who they are. It is a pleasure to accompany the children on their learning path and to observe their progress. We are not a school like any other and that is (in my eyes) a good thing.

“I like to play Lego or board games with my children. I love books, being outside in nature, but I also like going to the theatre.” “Our Montessori school is a big community where everyone helps each other, treats each other kindly and everyone counts with their strengths. With us, the children are encouraged in their abilities and grow beyond themselves. The children learn very important things for life, such as how to learn independently, how to present their projects, and they are able to design many learning contents according to their interests. I also learn a lot from the children every day, for example, giving them time for their development and trusting that they know the right way for themselves.

“I really enjoy being out in nature. I like it best in, near or under water.” “Montessori education puts the children at the centre. They set the direction. Again and again I am surprised by their curiosity, their thirst for knowledge and their – for us adults – often different point of view. And because they decide for themselves what they learn, how long they spend on a subject and with whom they do so, the children practise using and dividing their time sensibly at a very early age.”

“In my free time I like to dance and spend a lot of time with my family and friends” The Montini groups are a matter close to my heart. It is an honour for me to be able to build, develop and accompany this group from the beginning. Being able to accompany the youngest children of the school as they grow gives me joy every day. Seeing them discover things and marvel at themselves again and again makes me radiate. In my opinion, Montessori education is the most child-oriented education there is. The children are encouraged to listen to their intrinsic motivation.

Anil Pausewang (Adventure education)

“Not only at school, but also in my free time I move a lot.” “I am an adventure teacher and I think it’s good that we also promote the social and emotional intelligence of our children at the Monti. This includes strengthening self-esteem, experiencing limits and, of course, having lots of fun with a pinch of adventure. For myself, it is always nice to see how much respect and appreciation the children give each other and how this feeling carries over into everyday life and the community of our school.”

Nicole Albus (Music lessons)

n.albus@montessori-schule-wiesbaden.de

“Because music strikes our innermost nerve, it has something repulsive or magical about it. But when the magic reaches every cell of our body, our whole body vibrates and we dance and sing and are happy. This happiness does not even require a language and does not ask for nationality, it is simply contagious!

My concern is to share this enthusiasm for music. This requires some instructions, musical parameters and music-historical background, so that contexts can be understood and used purposefully by oneself. This phenomenon is in line with Montessori pedagogy.”
