The preschoolers also start their day with an open beginning, the Gleitzeit. All children arrive between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. and then start with a short, shared circle time. Afterwards, free work begins. Alone, with a partner or in a small group, the children delve into their individual activities. They work with topics and materials from the areas of daily life exercises, sensory materials, mathematics, language, exploring the world and art. In between, there is enough time for self-chosen rest periods or for breakfast. The teachers provide support where it is needed and give new impulses.
In order to have enough time for the various activities in the two rooms, the free work phase at the Montinis extends over a period of three hours. The morning is rounded off by a group discussion with presentations from the free work, factual topics and games.
During lunch in the cafeteria and the subsequent break in our woods, the Montinis meet the children of the school groups. This is where the first friendships often develop, thus promoting an uncomplicated transition to elementary school. After the break, the children either return to the Montinis’ group rooms or to specialized lessons, sports or experiential education.
At 3 p.m., school is over. Children who still have AGs after that get a snack and attend afternoon activities until 5 pm.
7:30 to8:00
The day for the Montinis starts with flex time.
8:00 to8:15
Brief circle time for orientation.
8:15 to11:15
Free work is now the order of the day; the children work, learn, and also eat a sugar-free breakfast during this time.
11:15 to11:45
Circle time: the children present work from free work, we play together or discuss a factual topic.
11:45 to 12:30
Time for lunch, which is freshly prepared by the school’s own cook. Of course, any food intolerances or vegetarian lifestyles are taken into consideration.
Break at 12:30 p.m.
The break takes place in the school’s own woods. Here the head is cleared again and also the movement does not come too briefly. The children have the opportunity to explore the small beech forest on their own or simply play with friends. The climbing forest as well as the various play offers invite to fun and joy.
